In England, Verne writes in his diary . . . .

03-08-45

Duty crew today so our day was spent cleaning washrooms and showers plus getting the coke1 ration for the squadron. Made sure we had plenty since we had the chance. Ate more of Aileen’s fruitcake tonight. Boy, it sure tasted wonderful. Received birthday cards2 from Aileen, Allen and a V-mail from mom Cline and an airmail from mom. Feeling good and wishing I were home with Aileen and Allen. Surely love them.

Notes & Commentary

1 Fuel for stove in barracks.
