Another pilot for the crew. We’ll have him until he gets his command pilot rating. Wish we weren’t saddled with all these Joes.1 It is slowing us down quite a bit and keeping us from getting in our missions. Guess we should be content and happy not to be flying. One letter from Aileen today. Pretty tired, but catching up very fast. Paid almost all my debts. Still owe £2.

1 Several days ago, Verne thought that 2nd Lt. Joseph M. McAllister, the crew’s co-pilot, would replace Maj. Linn E. Wilde as the pilot.
