December 28, 1944

Thursday

On December 28, 1944, Wayne made no entry in his journal.

In England, his brother, Verne, entered the following in his diary:

12-28-44

Flew two hour practice missions. Have time in for 1 mo flying pay. Three days left to get this months in. Rec weekly ration of coke1 today. Was hungry for candy. Have caught bad cold from cold weather or lack of heat in the barracks. No news from home. Very lonely for my loved ones.

Notes & Commentary

1 Fuel for the stove in his living quarters.
