Went out to the ship and loaded some bombs for practice.1 When we move out of here, we may have to do our own work for a while. Tough, but such is war in the Pacific. Replaced turret dome in airplane and fixed spring on ammunition roller arm in the turret.
Wrote in book and letter to Bonnie in the afternoon. Typed book so far in Intelligence building. Heard song “I Love You”, Bonnie’s favorite. It is beautiful and I love it too.

1 Wayne’s Military Occupation Specialty (MOS) was “Airplane Armorer-Gunner (612)”. Among the duties of an Airplane Armorer-Gunner besides the maintenance of aircraft cannon and machine guns were the following:
Inspects, repairs, and maintains all aircraft armament, including bomb release mechanism, . . . Makes daily inspections and running repairs to equipment, such as bomb racks, bomb release mechanisms, . . . Installs armament equipment on airplanes. Fuses and places bombs in bomb racks . . .
